Our research is focused mainly on cathode materials (LiFePO4, sulfur) but in cooperation with our partners we are testing also anode materials (silicone, graphite, graphene oxide) and electrolytes (ionic liquids). Our laboratories are equiped for preparation and testing of half-cells and small batteries and prototypes. Currently, we are working on a collaborative international project NATO SPS 985148 „Development of New Cathodes for Stable and Safer Lithium-Sulphur Batteries“. After few years of collaboration with Brno University of Technology european patent application „Alkali and/or alkaline earth ion – monoclinic sulfur allotrope battery with self-supporting electrodes“ was submitted and one of the inventors is also prof. Andrea Strakova Fedorkova from UPJŠ Košice. In the future, we plan to purchase new testing devices for measurements of larger commercial Li-ion cells.
